Open letter of appeal to the delegates and guests of the 10 Th World Congress of Ruthenians
Dear brothers and sisters, dear compatriots,
History of every nation has its ups and downs, moments of sadness and joy, eternal spiritual values.
It will soon be 65 years of persistent reinforced ukrainization (especially recently), on the one hand, and fight of the world's giants on the political stage for the monopoly in the world, on the other hand. The process of assimilation of our people went so far that it has activated our natural instinct of self-preservation. There is a real threat to “burn with the wind“, disappear from the map of the world.
The only solution in this situation is to take immediate, decisive action and, most importantly, to act together. We cannot live like this anymore.
There are all prerequisites for this. There is a new generation of well-educated Ruthenian politicians growing and gaining strength. They are bringing in fresh ideas, have no fear of the regime, an excellent knowledge of information technologies wars, and are well aware of the strengths and weaknesses of an alarming situation we‘ve found ourselves in.
The efforts of maitres of the Ruthenian movement I. Pop, R. Magochi and many others have created powerful historical, legal and ideological basis. We, and the new generation must appreciate and remember the names of the best sons and daughters of our people, who at all times, despite the harassment and intimidation of governing systems and rulers, and a kaleidoscope of changing regimes, courageously, selflessly, with persistence inherent only to Ruthenians, defended freedom, honour and dignity of our people.
Continuous chain of "liberators" and "vossoediniteley” and their transition regimes, each rewriting our history “to fit their hoof ", destroying archives, robbing museums, burning books and processing them in Rakhiv cardboard factories, tried to erase the most sacred, all our forefathers and ancestors valued the most over millenniums.
There were always many detractors of our history and our people at all times. Now some "historians and politicians of “local spill” are trying to adapt to them.
Unfortunately, we also have our home-grown quislings, who would not mind” to spit in the past“, who are trying to proffer culture, lifestyle, customs and traditions of their ancestors in the distorted, ugly shape. No plea or reasoning can justify the essence of their small-minded souls.
There will soon be time, when triumph of justice will rid our people of artificially imposed brand mark of "Ukrainians." We want to live in friendship and mutual respect, good neighbourliness with those around us, we are no better and no worse than neighbours, but we are different. At all times our credo was love of our people, not hatred of other people.
The reality itself has demanded the process of renaissance of the Ruthenian movement.
Having found themselves in different cultural environments in different countries, often against their will, our compatriots could not avoid changes in their mentality and, consequently, the choice of tactical steps and approaches to address their main strategic objective. Obviously, this does not mean that we should continue to operate separately, as fragmented groups, accusing each other of excessive radicalism or collaborationism. We are destined to act together, verifying each step with clear guidance, guiding star - a strategic objective.
We have no choice, no alternative. It is clear that only by joint efforts of setting up our parent State Subcarpathian Ruthenia, which we have suffered for upon centuries, will allow us, scattered all over the world Ruthenians, if referring to Bible, “our vagabond sons and daughters” in our own time to come back at the threshold of our "Paternal Home”.
